Last day of track practice and after Elisha running 3 miles and Bethany putting in another 2 1/2 they got to play a game. It's a cell phone photo, so I know the action's kinda hard to see, but I loved that their coach got right in there and played with them. Coach Jay is on the right in the blue shirt, Elisha and Bethany both appear to be streaking across the middle.

Sectionals ~ 123/365

Both of my kids qualified for the Sectional Championships (but neither one advanced from there). We spent a lot of time hanging around just waiting for the events.

My kiddos made friends in track two years ago and when we returned this year they picked up again with the same friends. Course in Elisha's case it helps that G is also on his basketball team.

Sweet Smelling Walk ~ 104/365

Went for a walk today... Apparently the kids at track have caught wind that I am willing to walk them down to the school to use the bathroom and now I've become kinda popular. But these sweet smelling flowers along the way are at least a bonus!

Ribbons ~ 99/365

These ribbons are starting to build up. I gotta figure out a better way to display them for the kids!

Big Bird ~ 92/365

This guy and his mate (or this gal and her mate) live in the trees in the field by the track the kids practice at. We see and hear them quite frequently each time we are there and they are always a delight to look at. Today I happened to snap this picture of one of them, although I later realized that my camera was on a funky setting and I didn't quite get the pic I was hoping for. Not sure if its a falcon or a hawk. Maybe I'll get a better photo with better details next time.

I completely forgot to take a picture today. So instead I chose this photo that (sort of) still represented our day because it rained so much from 1:00 to 5:00 we decided not to go to track practice. It was actually much worse today than when I took this photo!

Rainbow in the Sky ~ 85/365

It poured today and we weren't sure there would be track practice. But then it cleared up just long enough, so off we went. I was walking my laps (to help me get in shape, so I can run with Bethany) and spotted the rainbow in the sky. I love the view across the field of the kids practicing and the clouds and the rainbow.

Good Buddies ~ 74/365

First meet of the 2014 Track Season and I caught this picture of the boys hanging out on the bleachers with us waiting for the next event. It was a hot one today, as it hit the 80's by late morning. (Hot for this time of the year anyways). 

I would have loved to have gotten more pics of the kids in their earlier events but because this is a volunteer organization we have to put in so many volunteer shifts per season and both Yohn and I decided to get some out of the way. He helped with the Softball throw measuring and I shepherded kids to the racing area during the relay races. Hard work I tell ya, HA!

Gettin' Stronger ~ 71/365

They worked on strength and conditioning exercises today.

At her first practice meet of the season, running the last leg of the 4 x 100 relay.

Duck Walk ~ 64/365

I think it may be her least favorite of the exercises she does in track but look at the concentration on her face. She laughs her way through it most times complaining through the giggles that her legs are burning. 

And no, despite how it looks, she didn't hit or push the kid next to her in the head.

Endurance ~ 36/365

The second day of practice and he has decent endurance, coming in second most of the time against the other kids during warm ups and other drills. 

Today's practice began cold and ended colder with the rain starting to sprinkle down on all who were fortunate enough to be standing in its presence.

Start of the Season ~ 34/365

Track started today. Stretching, and running, and exercising will be their new routine. Saturdays (starting in March) will be filled with early mornings, coolers filled with sandwiches, drinks and snacks, hanging out with friends, and cheering the kids on. Here's to the start of the season!
